Description

Natural proteinase K is a serine protease isolated from the fungus Tritirachium album. Proteinase K has extremely high enzymatic activity and wide substrate specificity. It can preferentially decompose the ester bonds and peptide bonds adjacent to the c-terminus of hydrophobic amino acids, sulfur-containing amino acids, and aromatic amino acids. It is often used to degrade proteins.

Healthgen Biotech recombinant proteinase K (rProK) is derived from yeast and has the same structure and function with natural proteinase K. It is purified by chromatography process, and with calcium and glycerin as protective agents.
