Serum Free Recombinant Human Serum Albumin has Higher Purity and Quality
Description
Human serum albumin (HSA) is the most abundant protein in plasma synthesized by hepatic parenchymal cells in human body with functions of maintaining normal osmolarity in the bloodstream as well as a carrier for numerous small molecules. Clinically, HSA is used to treat acute shock, extensive burn, cirrhotic ascites and hemorrhoea. Nowadays, the HSA is mainly derived from human blood. It may have the potential contaminants risks, like HIV, Hepatitis B virus or other pathogens. What’s more, HSA depends on the blood supply, which is not stable and results in HSA shortage.
The recombinant human serum albummin (OsrHSA) is derived from rice grain, which is animal component free and can provide stable supply. OsrHSA has been demonstrated to be folded into the identical structure and has identical function as plasma human serum albumin(pHSA), as well as the identical immunogenicity. Currently, OsrHSA can be an excellent alternative to pHSA in bio-industrial application, such as xeno-free cell culture media, vaccine, medical devices, cell therapy, small molecular carrier and other bio-pharmaceutical applications.
Compared with other commercial rHSA, OsrHSA has no degradation fragment and fewer polymers, which means OsrHSA has higher purity.
OsrHSA was analyzed by size exclusion chromatography HPLC (SEC HPLC), showing the purity is more than 99.99%.
Compared to pHSA, OsrHSA derived from rice also has such advantages:
1) Eliminate or reduce of the potential risks of viral and other unknown factors in blood-derived products.
2) Avoid the serum quality changes from different batches.
3) Chemical defined component.
4) Stable supply and no dependence on a process from precious blood source.
