Human serum albumin is the most abundant protein in human plasma. It can transport hormones, lipids and other molecules and maintain osmotic pressure. OsrHSA is a recombinant human albumin derived from rice grains, which provides an excellent solution for animal free medium. Compared to FBS, pHSA and BSA, OsrHSA has higher purity and excellent batch consistency. Meanwhile, OsrHSA is widely used as excipient, stabilizer and embedding agent in bio-pharmaceutical applications.

The recombiannt human albumin (OsrHSA) is structurally and biochemically equivalent to pHSA. The OsrHSA has the same molecular mass, amino acid sequence, N- and C terminus, and melting point as pHSA. Spectroscopic analysis further confirmed that OsrHSA has the same conformation as pHSA (Fig. A). No obvious differences in main-chain conformations were identified between pHSA and OsrHSA, which demonstrates that OsrHSA in rice endosperm cells is folded into the identical structure as pHSA in blood plasma. As expected, 17 disulfide bonds were identified as genuine disulfide bonds, and a free cysteine (Cys) residue was observed at position 34 (Fig. B).

Recombinant human albumin is off-white to light beige lyophilized powder, and packaged in 1g, 10g, 50g and 100g. The advantages of OsrrHSA powder are as followed: 1) the protein will not be denatured or loss its biological activity; 2) recover the original physical, chemical characteristics and biological activity of the aqueous solution after quickly dissolve in water; 3) stability of the products will increase while making contamination much less; 4) not only facilitates the transportation but also extends the storage time.
