Recombinant human albumin powder for blocking reagent
Human serum albumin (HSA) is the most abundant serum protein, which carries several endogenous compounds including fatty acids. HSA has long been the center of attention of biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry due to its non-toxicity, non-enzymatic activity, non-immunogenicity and anti-oxidation properties. HSA is an acidic, very soluble protein that is extremely robust: it is stable in the pH range of 4–9, soluble in 40% ethanol.
Currently, HSA is only obtained from human plasma, which is limited in supply but of high biopharmaceutical demand. The recombinant human serum albumin (rHSA) has been employed, but because of the risk of plasma derived pathogens and batch‐to‐batch variation, recombinant HSA (rHSA) is increasingly becoming the albumin of choice in the blocking reagent.
Using the State-of-the-art platform---OryzHiExp, uses rice endosperm cells as a bioreactor to specifically and highly express various recombinant proteins and small peptides, Healthgen Biotech recombinant human serum albumin (OsrHSA) has been successfully produce.

In the market, the SigMatrix is a serum diluent that utilizes recombinant human albumin as the source of the albumin blocking reagent. The use of recombinant human albumin can eliminate the source of interfering analytes typically found in human and bovine-derived diluents. Many commercially-available diluents rely on charcoal-stripping which often only results in limited reduction of interfering analytes.
