Description
Proteinase K is an endopeptidase that is effective with native proteins, allowing endogeous RNase and DNase to be inactivated rapidly. The proteinase K is stable over a wide pH range from 4 to 12.5 and remains fully active for several hours when incubated at pH 6.5~9.5. Proteinase K has no significant substrate specificity, and main cleavage site is the peptide bond at the carboxyl end of the hydrophobic amino acid such as aliphatic or aromatic.
Healthegn Biotech express and purify the recombinant proteinase K (rProK) from yeast (Pichia Pastoris) based on the optimized gene of Engyodontium album by site-directed mutation. The rProK possesses a high specific activity, can be widely used for digestion of proteins, including DNases and RNases, during nucleic acid preparations without compromising integrity of isolated DNA or RNA. The recombinant proteinase K (rProK), purified by chromatography process, has a high purity more than 95%, which is also completely free of DNase and RNase activities.
