Animal component-free recombinant human albumin liquid
Human serum albumin is the most abundant protein in human plasma. It can transport hormones, lipds and other molecules and maintain osmotic pressure. Rice endosperm derived OsrHSA is a recombinant human salbumin derived from rice grains, and doesn't contain any animal component, which is much safer than plasma derived HSA.
Using the patented rice endosperm platform--- OryzHiExp, uses rice endosperm cells as a bioreactor to specifically and highly express various recombinant proteins and small peptides, the OsrHSA was expressed in the rice endosperm and stored in the rice protein body which can keep the protein stability and bioactivity to the maximum extent.
Healthgen Biotech has reported that the production of the level of OsrHSA reached 10.58% of the total soluble protein of the rice grain. Large-scale production of OsrHSA generated protein with a purity >99% and a productivity rate of 2.75 g/kg brown rice. Physical and biochemical characterization of OsrHSA revealed it to be equivalent to plasma-derived HSA (pHSA). Furthermore, OsrHSA displays similar in vitro and in vivo immunogenicity as pHSA. The main use of OsrHSA will be as a substitute for pHSA in pharmaceutical applications, but as HSA is a versatile protein, OsrHSA may eventually be used widely as:
• an excipient or stabilizer in other recombinant and biotechnology based products;
• a component in special products such as imaging and embedding agents;
• an agent in therapeutic apheresis where plasma exchange might be desirable.
