Fibronectin (FN) is mainly synthesized by liver and vascular endothelial cells and widely present in animal plasma, body fluids and tissues, and it is a particularly important and well-studied component of the extracellular matrix. FN is a macromolecular glycoprotein composed of two subunits with a molecular mass of about 220KDa connected by interchain disulfide bonds, and the molecular weight of the dimer is about 450KD. FN has a variety of biological activities. Modern medical research has shown that the change of fibronectin content is closely related to various clinical diseases, such as coronary heart disease, and the detection of fibronectin content has very important clinical significance in the auxiliary diagnosis of coronary heart disease.

The content of serum fibronectin in patients with coronary heart disease generally increases. The high fibronectin content state promotes the wound repair of necrotic myocardium; on the other hand, it helps to promotes platelet adhesion to the damaged parts of blood vessels, accelerates the removal of fibrin and its degradation products, maintains the dynamic balance of coagulation and fibrinolysis, which exhibiting anti-thrombotic effect. Therefore, for patients with suspected coronary heart disease, the auxiliary diagnosis of coronary heart disease can be made by detecting the content of FN in the serum.
