Fibronectin (FN) is a high molecular weight (~450kDa) glycoprotein in the extracellular matrix, and consists of two subunits with a molecular mass of about 220kDa connected by interchain disulfide bonds. FN is widely distributed in body tissues and plays an essential role in a variety of biological functions, such as angiogenesis, cell migration, differentiation, and wound healing. Based on its biological function, FN has a wide range of applications in life science research, such as cell culture substrate or medium supplement. Moreover, the change of FN content in human plasma or tissue fluid is often related to the occurrence and development of diseases. Therefore, it can be used for in vitro auxiliary diagnosis of certain clinical diseases, such as pregnancy-induced hypertension, and the detection of fibronectin content has very important clinical significance in the patient with pregnancy-induced hypertension.
 
Studies have shown that the plasma fibronectin content of patients with pregnancy-induced hypertension is significantly higher than the normal value, and with the aggravation of pregnancy-induced hypertension and the increase in the number of weeks of pregnancy, the pFN value also increases. In addition, the pFN content of pregnant women with moderate and severe pregnancy-induced hypertension is significantly higher than the content of mild in the pregnancy-induced hypertension group, the difference is significant. Therefore, the pFN value can be used as an indicator to monitor the occurrence of pregnancy-induced hypertension and the severity of the disease.
 
One source of the commercial FN used to prepare FN polyclonal antibody is blood derived and relies on scarce blood sources, at the same time it has complicate extraction and purification process, which makes it difficult for the production of natural FN to meet the industrial production needs of FN antibody manufacturers, who may face the risk of insufficient or unstable supply.
