Recombinant human albumin liquid in cell therapy

Healthgen Biotech uses State-of-the-art platform called Oryz^HiExp, having high capacity to express proteins and peptides in the rice grain. The platform uses rice endosperm cells as a bioreactor to specifically and highly express various recombinant proteins and small peptides. The platform has such advantages, free of animal prions or virus from human plasma, more biological safety, environment friendly compared with other bioreactors. The recombinant human serum albumin (OsrHSA) is derived from rice endosperm, is animal component free and has very good batch consistency. The recombinant human albumin has gained the DMF No. from US FDA, which DMF No. is 029648.

Double-cross immunoprecipitation experiments between OsrHSA or pHSA and antiserum against pHSA or OsrHSA clearly showed that both OsrHSA and pHSA bound completely to antiserum against OsrHSA or pHSA (Fig. A). Additionally, in ELISA tests, polyclonal antibodies against pHSA reacted equally with OsrHSA (Fig. B). Taken together, these results indicate that the immunogenicity of OsrHSA is similar to that of pHSA in vitro.

The recombinant human albumin (OsrHSA) is animal component free and has very good batch consistency, which has many advantages in the cell therapy. These include:

• elimination or reduction of the potential risk of viral and other unknown factors (e.g. CJD risk) in blood derived products;
• simplify the downstream bio-processing or biological research;
• stable supply and no dependence on a process based on fractionation from precious donated blood;
• very good batch consistency and avoid the batch difference.
