Long chain R3 recombinant human insulin-like growth factor 1 (rhIGF-1 LR3) is an modified protein based on the insulin-like growth factor. There are two differences between LR3-IGF1 and human IGF1. The first one is that the third glutamic acid of LR3-IGF1 is replaced by arginine. hence R3. The second one is that there are 13 more amino acids in the N-side than normal IGF1. Normal IGF1 contains 70 amino acids (7.4 kDa) and LR3-IGF1 contains 83 amino acids (9.11 kDa). They all have 6 cysteines, 3 pairs of disulfide bonds. Its biological activity is 10 times that of IGF-1, 200-1000 times higher than insulin, which can reach 1 × 10⁶ IU / mg.
