Recombinant basic fibroblast growth factor called OsrhbFGF (OsrhFGF2) is a multifunctional cell growth factor. It can promote cell growth activity and is normally used in serum-free culture. By using the State-of-the-art platform called Oryz^HiExp, OsrhbFGF was stably expressed and accumulated during rice growth. After extraction and purification, finally high purity and high activity protein polypeptide is acquired. In the serum free cell culture, bFGF can regulate the expression of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) and the synthesis of the glutamate and the S-100 protein. And it can ccelerate the process of cell division and maintain the cell membrane structure. bFGF also is a very potent inducer of DNA synthesis in a variety of cell types from mesoderm and neuroectoderm lineages.
