Lactoferrin (LF) has a variety of powerful biological functions, such as broad-spectrum antibacterial, antioxidant, anti-cancer action and modulating the immune system. The LF has been allowed to use as a food additive for functional food by the US Food and Drug Administration (US FDA). Lactoferrin is a component of the innate immune system.
